  1. Processor value Unit: Processor Value Unit or PVU is a unit of measure defined by IBM to streamline their licensing policies and contracts. Each software package they sell has its own price per PVU.

    IBM define a processor (for the purposes of PVU licensing) as each core on a socket. i.e. a quad core Power7 chip on a PS700 blade server would constitute 4 x 70 PVU's[1]

    The Licensee can deploy software either using Full Capacity licensing or Virtualization Capacity (Sub-Capacity) licensing.

    In IBM site there is a calculator which is available to calculate the PVU.
    You need the information of number of CPU's on server and enter that in the site

    Tip: to check how many CPU's your computer has, right click on task bar and click on task manager and click on processor tab and check the number of columns in 'CPU usage history' section. The number of columns u see those many CPU's are there in your computer.
